Rice Sensory Bin Challenge - Child-led play at Kids Play Space!
I am super excited to bring you our child-led play story as a part of the Rice Sensory Bin Challenge Blog Hop - organised by Sarah at Little Bins for Little Hands! The idea is simple - to present your child(ren) with a bin of plain white or brown rice - and nothing else... and to just sit back and enjoy watching what they choose to bring to the activity and how they play with the rice. You can check out all of the other bloggers' kiddos exploring the rice sensory bin at the bottom of this post, but in the meantime, I'll let these photos explain how Master B's rice play session unfolded... I apologise in advance for the huge number of photos - I may have got slightly carried away...
... Sorry sweetie, I will step in here and clarify: "No! It is uncooked, and not nice to eat!" (Although, it's interesting how kids enjoy exploring new environments with all of their senses isn't it?)I loved that he included me in his games. "Awwww!"
Fortunately, this lad knew exactly how far he could tip the container to get a cool 'rice waterfall' effect, without completely spilling the whole bin of rice onto our living room floor! (*Mental note: really, I mean really, what possessed me to set this up indoors??!!)
The after effects... not too bad, considering what might have been!!
And you know what? It was all his idea - child-led play the best kind of play in the world!
But wait... there is so much more!
